Collection contains few working papers prior to 1930. Files of Arthur Besse, president, and Glen F. Brown, head of the Statistics Div., make up much of the collection. Papers of Walter Humphreys, secretary, 1922-1952, are also included. There are formal administrative records, a series of Bulletins to Members which reflects the activities of NAWM through information mailed to members, and the working files of the New York office. The executive working files were created according to issue or subject. The Statistics Div. generated the largest amount of materials, especially correspondence with various U.S. government departments involved in reporting industrial statistics. The collection also contains a large amount of reference material, including a clipping file, 1930-1970, largely from trade papers. Includes records of annual and special meetings, meetings of Board of Directors, Executive Committee, etc., 1864-1965; bulletins to members, 1931-1971; wage reports, 1912-1932; history files, 1864-1965; publications, including Monthly statements of imports and exports of wool manufacturers, 1913-1930; Monthly statistics of wool manufacturers, 1934-1951; Reports, 1941-1951; and Industrial relation notes, 1949-1951. Executive papers include working subject files on labeling legislation, tariffs, customs regulation, minimum wage, etc., 1913-1968; reference files, 1934-1970; NRA Code Authority files; Statistics Div. files; financial records, 1864-1970; and files of related organizations formed within the NAWM.
